Another blogger, Mr Myth kindly came to my defense.

It’s time to develop Cole as more than just “the befuddled boss.” In order to do that I have to address the fact that Cole has a family that we haven’t talked about, literally, for years. Do I just pretend that stuff never happened or update the situation in continuity?

And if I reintroduce Cole’s wife, why not making it as interesting as possible. Brent and Jade are about to provide us with a lot of material on the happy married couple. So why present Cole and Donna identically.
