I saw today that Aint It Cool News gave our book Truth, Justin, and the American Way a very favorable nod during their end of the year comic recap. I got a smile from it, but I also feel a bit sad about it.
I had high-hopes for Justin and I feel like either through fault of my own, or the comic book market in general, the book just never got the fair shake it deserves. Aaron Williams is a brilliant scribe. Giuseppe Ferrario is an inspired cartoonist. They took a stupid idea I had on a long trip home and turned it into something more than I could have ever conceived of on my own.
Justin has a lot of goofy gags in it and 80’s references. But there’s more too it than that. I know we sold it as your “favorite 80’s show that never was”, but at the core of it is a story about a loser who tries to become more than he is, for a girl. And much like I did with Justin, he succeeds with the help of his friends.
Truth, Justin and the American Way is on sale at the PvP stuff store. Anyone who orders the book this week will get a free doodle inside of it courtesy of me. It’s not the same as getting art from Giuseppe, but maybe it’s enough incentive to encourage some of you to check out the book.
Big thanks to Aintitcool for the nice mention.
