Back from Staple. What a killer time.
Friday night Kris and I pulled into town in time to make it to the pre-party at Austin books. AB is a great store. It’s huge. Immense. They have so many trades it’s insane. I picked up Persepolis, and Scott Pilgrim 4, as well as the new Jeff Smith book RASL. The party was awesome. Got to run into some good friends.
Over the weekend we got to hang out David Malki over at Wondermark. David is just plain awesome. It was so great getting to know him. We had a blast.
The show was slow at first and we were stuck in a dark corner. Then suddenly they fixed the lights and things went crazy busy. I was adored at this show. I say that with great embarrassment. The fans in Austin were unrealistically nice to me. I got interviewed by four different institutions. It was insane. To say Austin gave me the star treatment is an complete understatement. I don’t know what I suddenly did to deserve such kindness and fawning, but it was greatly appreciated.
I picked up something though. A bug or the like. I have lost my voice and my head is heavy and I’m very tired. I didn’t get any work done at the show and I am forcing myself now to catch up.
Danielle Corsetto promised she would visit the studio this week while she’s in town. I’m excited and nervous I’ll be sick and miss the opportunity. So it’s early to bed for me tonight.
Thank you SO much, Austin and Staple.
