Something I would really like to start doing is live streaming. I’ve been enjoying watching Leo Laporte stream himself recording his various podcasts via his TWiT Live site and I want to get into the game myself.

I haven’t really researched any of the different live stream services yet, but one thing that’s different between what I’ve seen so far and what I want to do is that I don’t want to stream video of myself. I want to stream what’s on my monitor (or at least one of them).

I would love to put up a live stream of screen as I’m working on artwork. So that people can basically watch it all unfold in Photoshop as I go. But I’m not sure how to point any of these live streaming services to a monitor instead of a webcam.

So I’m putting out the bat-signal and seeing if any of you out there in the PvP Nation know what I could do/use to pull something like this off.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks to everyone who helped me with my streaming question. Here’s the solution I went with: Camtwist and Ustream.tv.

Ustream.tv is a free service that lets you broadcast your webcam over the net. Camtwist is a program for Mac that runs in the background and sends your desktop to Ustream. Camtwist will let you specifiy between fullscreen, a portion of a screen or a particular monitor. A simple elegant solution.

Be sure to bookmark my Ustream page for the How to Make Webcomics Screencast. From time to time, I’ll broadcast live as I work on the strip or other art. Right now, it’s video only. No audio. But that might change in the future.

Just a quick notice on outstanding orders in the PvP store.

I’ve been home sick for almost two weeks and because of that, the orders have piled up at the office. We’ve sent out a bunch of stuff yesterday but we have a long way to go. Especially orders for How to Make Webcomics. So please bear with me as we get out from under the pile of orders. We’re going to kick them out as fast as we can and make up for lost time.

Know that orders are going to be going out all week, just as fast as we can sketch, sign, stuff and stamp.

Management greatly appreciates your patience in this matter :)
