I wanted to make sure everything was stable and running smoothly before I made a post about the new site design (hopefully this won’t jinx things). Welcome to the newest version of PvPonline.com

First credit where credit is due: The new site design is all the work of Tyler Martin. Tyler is the man behind the Comicpress theme which runs many a webcomic website these days. He’s also the man behind the design of some of your favorite webcomic sites including Least I Could do, Looking For Group and Comixtalk.

Tyler and I wanted to work from the existing design and tweak it a bit. we lightened things up a bit but kept the same browns and oranges. We widened the site and tried to make better use of the space below the strip. We’ve moved the strip blog to the left column and now that only pops down when there is a blog post for the strip itself. We’ve added some handy buttons to the right of the strip, and we got rid of some internal pages that had grown stagnant and irrelevant since we last designed our site.

I also want to give a big thanks to Ryan Sohmer and his server guru over at Blind Ferret, Ryan McCahan, for helping us work behind the scenes to optimize the back-end of the site. I mention this because it’s not as noticeable an effort as Tyler’s design work but just as important. I also mention it because I know Sohmer will be infinitely pleased to see me thank him for helping me with my server’s back-end. I’m told she has a lovely back-end for a server (and even a nice rack).

I’ll be adding more features to the site as we go along in the weeks to come; including a couple things in the sidebar, and more than likely we’ll be integrating Oh No Robot so that you guys can transcribe 10 years worth of PvP for me.

I know you can’t wait.
