I wanted to take a moment to thank Meredith Gran and everyone else who made their life very stressful for the last couple of months to make the New England Webcomics Weekend a reality.

I was amazed at how many people descended upon Northampton, MA for this event. It really was a show for us and by us. And it is shaping up to be the show I look forward to the most every year.

For me the highlight of the show was finally interacting in person with the other people that make Webcomics such a special field to be involved with. There were some names I only know glancingly from message boards or twitter replies who now are fully fleshed out friends and peers.

One thing I never had to do all weekend long was stop to explain what a Webcomic was to a con-goer. Everyone was there for us and for our work. They were singularly and decidedly aware of what we do and why we do it, and they were there to support it.

I want to personally thank everyone that came out this weekend to see us. All the fans, all the kids who want to make their own comics, all the pros who took a chance and spent money in a tough economy to come out and make a go of this. Thank you so much. Thank you for letting me sit and talk shop with you. It makes it all feel so much real. It makes it a little bit easier to repel the inevitable self-doubt we all experience when we sit alone at home in our individual studios.

Thinking about next year is really exciting.

As Brad and I sat quietly in the car, waiting for the rest of the boys to emerge from the Eastworks complex so we could leave after a wonderful day of Webcomic madness, we were a little awestruck. The Conversation went a little like this:

Me: Does it feel like to you that we just experienced the beginning of something big?
Brad: Absolutely!
Me: Like, one day this will be a huge con.
Brad: We’ll look back and say “Remember the first year when there were only 600 people attending?”
Me: yeah.
Brad: And we’ll look at pictures and say “My God! Were we ever that young?”
Me: Yeah. I’m gonna twitter that.
Brad: (trademark laugh)
