I don’t like doing LOLBAT strips too often, because just like the internet memes he’s inspired by, I’m worried that if he shows up too often he’ll burn out and then I won’t get to have fun with him anymore.

So unless I have a really funny one-shot idea, or a solid idea for a story arc, I tend to err on NOT having him show up in the strip.

But then I remembered I was doing this guest author stint over at City of Heroes and this would be a good week for LOLBAT and I started to brainstorm about how I could flesh him out a bit more.

I think a love interest is an interesting idea. And if I have the guts to go through with it, I’ll be pulling off a big reveal on Friday. So I hope you guys enjoy!

So a lot of people are asking me if the Hopscotch app that Brent is using in our current storyline is real. No it is not. Hopscotch is a fictional parody of apps like Foursquare and Gowalla. Specifically though it’s a parody of how checking into a certain location multiple times with Foursquare elects you that location’s mayor.

Yes. I am the mayor of my local Starbucks. Yes I told the Baristas. And yes, they do call me “your honor.”

Before you find me on foursquare, let me warn you in advance I’ll probably ignore your friend request. I’m new to foursquare and adding a bunch of readers to my friends list is going to make things more confusing for this luddite. But maybe once I get the hang of it, I’ll make a PvP account. Or one for Brent. And we can all be buddies. I’ll keep you posted.
