First I want to thank everyone for their very kind and humbling words regarding the last week of strips. It’s so exciting to discover that after 11 years, I can still create something that surprises my readers. And I can’t tell you how exciting it is to still have new things to discover about my work, and these characters, after over a decade of working with them.

Many of you have asked if I would be willing to offer “The Incident” as a print, containing the entire story. I talked to my partners at Amplifier earlier in the week and they’ve already set things up for me. A beautiful, high-quality print of “The Incident” is available in thePvPstuff.com store. The print measures 11×17, is printed in full, vibrant color, is suitable for framing and mailed flat.

It also behooves me to bring to your attention that we’ve added some new laptop skins to the store. In fact we have a brand new SKINS section featuring laptop skins that you can apply, remove and reapply with ease for both the Mac and the PC. Two of these feature the amazing artwork of the official PvP intern (only known by the mysterious name CubeWatermelon). Take a look.

We’ve also added a new laptop skins for all you Brent-Sienna-like-mac-snobs who want the entire coffee shop to know you’ve got more important things to worry about than them. Available in both white and black to suit your macbook needs.

…Boom Pow, Them chickens jackin’ my style, they try to copy my-

Oh hi, I didn’t notice you there! It’s me Cube Watermelon, the PVP Intern! You might have seen me on Scott’s stream, or heard mention of me on his twitter, or have no idea who the hell I am.

In any case, I’ve been workin’ at Scott’s place for a little over two weeks, and I’m having a great time. So far I’ve helped design the back cover for book 7 and drawn characters for laptop skins, along with random tasks that are considerably less fun. (Editing and flattening series of images and saving them as TIFs!? Extreme comickiiiing woo!)

But I have a feeling that the latter is what most interns are SUPPOSED to do. And don’t get me wrong, they’re important work that I’ll need to understand someday. But Scott has given me a lot of tasks that’re fun and creative, and I really appreciate that. It almost feels like I really am a working artist, with the most unrealistic job ever. And while Scott’s my… employer?… he’s been more like a friend, or perhaps a father. If your father was a crazy cartoonist who is compelled to announce when he farts.

I’ve been interested in comics, and especially webcomics, for a long time, but I’ve always felt like I was standing right outside a bar full of countless cool people I wanted to be friends with. But on the night before the Dallas Webcomics Expo, when I was eating dinner with Scott and KC Green, I felt like I’d finally stepped inside that door. And I feel like I’ve never made better use of my time and skills.
