The San Diego Comicon is only a week away and once again, PvP will be exhibiting in the Webcomics pavilion, booth 1235. Before I continue, does anyone else miss the tucan mascot for the con? The eye is weird. But I digress. There is some important information you need to know about PvP’s showing at this year’s show, so let me give you some important bullet points:

Who’s gonna be at the booth? This year the PvP booth will be manned by the Kurtz men. Me, dad and Brian. Yep. My dad will be attending all five days of Comicon. He’s pumped about it.

What am I bringing to sell you? Some classics. The PvP books. The Awesomology hardcover will be there. Also the Skull plushes. No shirts. I’m working on a print (tentative).

Are you bringing anything new or exciting? Yes! We’re debuting two new things at the show this year. PvP book 8 will be debuting at the show. This is your first chance to pick up the latest volume of PvP and I’m very proud of this collection. It collects all the strips from 2008 and is the first PvP collection I’ve self published since 2001 (more on that at a later date). A lot of hard work went into it and I don’t think I’ve ever been more proud of one of our book collections.

The second item appearing for the first time at the con is a brand new toy. I was very happy with the success of the Scratch fury figurine and wanted to do more 3DPvP for you. And so I started looking around at what is really cool when it comes to toys and discovered the world of custom vinyl. Kid Robot and the like. I fell in love. Vinyl is so cool, and I was dying to work with it. So I’m excited to announce a new line of PvP vinyl toys called “desktop icons.”

These guys are around 4.5 inches tall with a skull the troll shaped figure. We have three custom paints of this first icon: Skull, the Panda, and a mystery paint that won’t debut until PAX Prime. We’ll have Skull and the Panda at Comicon in limited supply. These will be sold online after the show so don’t worry about having to be there to get one. In the future we’ll be releasing new icon shapes, custom paints and having limited and exclusive runs for special events and shows.

Now I’ve been nervous about talking about this too soon. We’re working again with Gensen figures and they assure me they can get me the figures to the con on time. My fingers are crossed and I’m stressing out about it, cause that’s what I do. If anything changes I’ll let you know but they assure me we’ll have these for San Diego.

I’ll be posting more about the con as the week progresses. I really hope we can see you out there. It’s always equal parts amazing time and total cluster eff.
