Today’s strip requires a bit of explaining.

Last week I did a guest strip for my friend Karl Kerschl’s comic “The Abominable Charles Christopher.” For those of you who aren’t familiar with Karl’s work you need to go check it out immediately. It’s absolutely stunning.

Karl’s only request was that the strip not contain any people as his strip is about a gentle yeti and his animal buddies. And that made me think about the animals in my life and how Kirby never really got any closure in the strip after he died.

It’s difficult for me to write strips about Kirby now. Not because I miss him or I’m sad he’s gone, but because he’s not present in my life inspiring comic ideas. My new bassets are, but they’re very different from Kirby. The result is that I just don’t do as many Kirby strips. So in a way, he has died in the comic, just not really officially and in a sad, quiet kind of way.

And that was kind of the inspiration for this guest strip. I asked Karl today if I could post it on PvP, make it a part of my archives as well. Just as way to pay tribute to Kirby and give him a little closure here on our site as well.

I wanted to offer an olive branch for all the late updates the last couple of weeks.

My company is growing. It’s a good thing. And the trick is growing without growing too fast, or spreading too thin. With The Blams,Kris and Scott’s Scott and Kris Show, The Trenches, a new website, and an unannounced collaboration (not to mention upcoming con season and our Melbourne trip) it got easy for me to get behind. And operating without a buffer has been a bad practice.

So I’m working ahead, projects are on break or wrapping up, the site should debut soon (this months fingers crossed). I feel like I’m getting back on top of this expansion. Great problems to have.

To thanks for your patience during these growing pains, I made you a desktop wallpaper. It’s based on an upcoming poster I’ll be debuting at the Emerald CIty Comicon at the end of March. It’s been a while since we’ve done a cast poster. Hope you like it.
