NEWS FLASH: PvP will be running M-W-F this week to give myself some extra time with my family while they’re in town for Christmas and New Years. So expect new PvP 3 times this week and our regular schedule returning on Mon, Jan 3.
It’s been an amazing year for myself, PvP and my family. 2010 held a lot of challenges for us and ends with a beginning. The beginning of a new chapter in my life with Angela here in Seattle. We’ve moved away from our family and are starting new in the Pacific Northwest. It hasn’t been easy, or cheap. And we’re in the middle of the exciting discomfort that signifies the beginning of all great journeys.
Around this time, a lot of bloggers like to post their recaps of the year. Favorite movies, moments, comics, etc. I’m horrible at these and honestly, I would rather look forward. I’m more excited about what’s coming in 2011 and right now as I look back I only see the mistakes I want to correct for the following year.
Cartoonists are lucky to face an amazing metaphor for life on a daily basis. Every morning we face a clean white sheet of paper upon which we can start anew and create anything we want. Anything is possible and we haven’t made any mistakes or laid down any stray marks. The new year always feels like a new fresh sheet of paper and I’m excited about bold strokes we’ll make in 2011.
- We have a brand new website in the works, which should debut in early February.
- An all new store is about to go live in the next week or so.
- The Trenches, a brand new comic strip collaboration between myself, Mike and Jerry will debut
- A second season of The Blamimations awaits with more lunacy from Kris and Scott (Scott and Kris)
I’m also excited about where I want to take the PvP characters next. 2010 was all about pushing my art to the next level and I plan for next year to be about pushing my writing in the same direction. Making you laugh every day is still the most important thing, but I really want to tell some important stories next year. I’m looking forward to trying things out.
I want to thank everyone reading this for making 2010 the most amazing year I’ve ever had as a cartoonist. Your support, patronage and kind words have been inspirational and uplifting. Your criticism, comments and sometimes outright rage have driven me to think, rethink and improve. I truly live an amazing life and I owe a great deal of it to your continued dedication to my work. It means the world to me.
I hope that everyone had an amazing Christmas (holidays are for terrorists) and that your New Year’s celebrations are filled with hope. To my fellow creators I say keep pushing. Remain unsatisfied. Fight complacency.
2011 is almost here. Let’s aim for the fences.
