The illustrious K-Straub and I will be attending this weekend’s Stumptown Comics Fest in Portland. This is my first time attending Stumptown so I’m extra pumped. We’re going to both have books and stuff on sale and will be signing and drawing and chatting it up with you fans.
I’m honestly looking forward to a visit to Portland. It’s kind of this amazing convergence of comic book talent. Oni, Dark Horse, Periscope. And it’s not that far from Seattle. Woot!
ALSO: We’re also doing a couple interesting panels on Sunday.
12:00-12:45pm
National Cartoonist’s Society — Join syndicated cartoonist Matt Bors for an peek inside the most prestigious organization for cartoonists: the National Cartoonist’s Society. Joining the discussion are syndicated cartoonist Jack Ohman, Jen Sorenson, and Scott Kurtz. (woof! This one should be a HOOT)
4:00-4:45pm
Scott Kurtz & Kris Straub:Writing for Humor — Have you ever wondered what it takes to keep a daily gag comic strip fresh and funny week after week, year after year? Join Webcomics Weekly co-hosts Scott Kurtz (Player Vs. Player) and Kris Straub (Starslip, Chainsawsuit) for a dialog focusing on humor and its forms. How do you write a four-panel punchline? Where do you go to find Funny? Can humor be forced, and should you even try? These questions and more may be answered, if we have time.
So hey, we hope to see you out there this weekend. It’s a comic show about comics, so it’s not one you want to miss if you’re in the area.
