Friday blog dump
Happy Friday, everyone. Before we head into a well-deserved weekend, I wanted to just touch base with everyone.
It's been a crazy couple of months for me and it's been a while since I've updated you on stuff. We just moved into a brand new house here in the Seattle area, and things have been a little nutso. Con season is officially over, and it's refreshing to look ahead and not have any business traveling in my immediate future. I don't think I fly to another con until PAX East in April of next year. It's a great feeling to look at the calendar and see five un-interrupted months to just put my head down and drill away at creating new content. Long, cold winter days in a cozy studio warmed by my cintiq. Playing holiday music and making comics. Sounds like Christmas to me.
So here's a quick update on all things Toonhound Studios:
PvP the comic strip is our flagship and our first love. You may recall some months ago we announced the creation of the PvP writer's room and the hiring of Dylan Meconis as our first official staff writer. Best decision ever. I can't tell you what a breath of fresh air Dylan has been. She knows these characters better than I do and she's fearless in her writing. Dylan, Cory and I have some big plans for PvP that we're going to be revealing in the next couple of months so stay tuned. We care so much about these characters and we really are excited about telling more stories with them. It's just really exciting time for this comic strip. I've never been happier as a cartoonist, and you guys have never been more receptive as an audience. It's just a great time to be producing this kind of content. So thanks for all your continued support and enthusiam about PvP.
Table Titans is wrapping up its first season soon. It's crazy to think that this comic only just launched this January. The fan community that has popped up around the Titans is phenomenal and beyond anything we hoped to achieve in the first two years of the comic, let alone its first ten months. I have to tell you that long-form comics attracts the most dedicated, passionate and patient audience. I've never seent his kind of devotion before, especially in a property so young. It really just melts my heart. We have a big fall event planned right after season one wraps up. We'll be announcing that soon. And then...god I wish I could talk about season two. So much craziness is happening right now around that. It's killing me not to be able to talk about it. I will say this: if you thought season one was epic, you won't believe what is coming for season two.
Meanwhile, Mappy is winding down its first season as well. We're quickly approaching our last final four episodes. Kris and I promise not to pull a "Lost" on you. We'll reveal before the season ends what Goro's big sinister plot has been. I think you'll all get a chuckle out of it. If you haven't seen any of Mappy yet, you need to head over to Shiftylook.com and check it out. We've posted nine episodes so far and each is a treat.
That's about it for now. We'll have a lot more to talk about in the next month or two so stay tuned.
